Korean Breakfast Part 3 @ Kiswire's Training Centre

Fourth day in Korea, we are already accustomed to Korean Food. Every day waiting for new dish to be serve especially for breakfast.

Dwenjang Seafood with Mushroom

Fish cooked like asam pedas, quite similar but has that korean seasoning taste.

Same as above, but with ojingo or octopus. See how creative they cut the octopus.

Cucumber Kimchi & Chilli Dried Shrimp…again. Anyhow still love it especially the shrimp.

Unagi Tonpuri @ Shinsegae Food Hall, Haeundae, Busan

We are very grateful to our president due to his generosity to buy us a pair of sport shoe as a souvenir to bring back to Malaysia. He informed to us to choose whatever sport shoe that we desired regardless of the price at the World Largest Departmental Store called Shinsegae or in English “ New World”. In addition to floor upon floor of designer brands, you will also find a spa, roof garden and 60-tee golf range.

Shinsegae Deparment Store - World's Largest
I let all my colleagues to choose first before I decided to pick one adidas sport shoe.  I pick up the striking red colour shoe that can be use for running and hopefully cycling. This is the latest design called clima cool and I believe mine was the cheapest among the others but still fetch the price around KRW 129,000 (RM361).

Clima Cool Adidas
After completed shopping we opted to dinner at Shinsegae Food Centre. Want to try Japanese Food at Korea so I ordered Unagi Tonpuri because I saw generous amount of unagi at the set box. The price about KRM13,800 or RM38.50

Unagi Tonpuri

Banchan - Pickled Garlic, Slice Ginger and Radish
The set consists of Grilled eel or unagi with Miso Soup, steamed rice and of course Banchan. I cannot resist the temptation of grilled eel. Every time I go to Japanese Restaurant, I always ordered Unagi either sets of sushi. That tasty sauce they drizzle over it…Simply delightful, I’m drooling for it now.

Roasted Chest Nuts @ Busan Jin Market, Busan

Strolling at Busan Jin Market, we stop by at sijang to buy some Korea t-shirt to bring back home for souvenir. Pass by one street vendor selling roasted chest nut. Saw the chestnuts were roasting, giving off such an aroma that make me standing around, transfixed, waiting to have a taste. Look enticing and straight away bargaining to buy some.

2,000 Won ...
Basket of Roasted Chest Nuts
Chest Nuts Fruit

Sweet & Naked Glory
Chest Nuts also can easily find in Malaysia, but the only different compare with Korea is the size. Here everything is rather big size, apple, strawberry, pear and not least the chest nuts too. Roasted Chest Nuts after peels off the skin looks like small brains. It’s rather dry, grainy texture and slightly sweet, starchy taste.

Kimbap @ Department Store, Busan

Spring season in Korea make me constantly craving for food, still hungry even after dinner and would like to munch something especially during supper time. Luckily we bought some Kimbap from nearby department store. You can find this dish almost everywhere, department store, convenience store, restaurant and street vendor. Kimbap is a popular Korean dish made from steamed white rice and various others ingredients normally vegetables, rolled in kim ( sheet of dried laver seaweed ).  Taste good, try them once and crave them forever after. But please, do not confuse this food with sushi.

Ko Gu Ma Matang @ Shinsegae, Haeundae, Busan

This is one of the best Korean Traditional snack.  It’s chunks of fried potato coated in translucent hot brown syrup and sprinkled with black sesame seed. Matang definitely looks like shiny candy. They are sweet and crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.  Do not forget to bite this snack because you will enjoy the sweet, fluffy, creamy sweet potato that melts in your mouth not in your hand.

Korean Breakfast Part 2 @ Kiswire's Training Centre

Third day in Korea, today I will focus more at Hyrope Factory. We need to benchmark and find positive points to implement in Malaysia Factory.  Start of the day, can’t wait what in store for us for breakfast.

Dwenjang Soup
Dwenjang Soup  with Fish Meat. I must taste the soup first before anything else. Really nice hot tasty soup. Slurping yummy.

Omelette

This is not Ojingo Bokkeum, but more like kimchi mix with octopus . Correct if I’m wrong probably this dish called Ojingo Muchim.

Fish Cake with Sesame Oil
Frankly speaking, I love fish but I hate fish cake or fish ball.

Chilli Dried Shrimp with pumpkin seed. Really delicious, asked the ahjumma to have a second helping.

Maxim Mocha Coffee @ Korea

Beside soju, Korean people like to drink coffee. One of the popular and rated No1 in Korea is maxim mocha coffee. But the problem is the packing is so tiny, for Malaysian we need at least 3 to 4 packets equivalent to 1 packet of Ali cafĂ©.  Even small, it still have strong & rich roast flavor and aroma that will give you immediate confidence to charge of the day. Really need to take some from training centre to bring back home.

Exotic Beondegi @ Busan Jin Market, Busan

After completed training we stopped by at sijang or street market around Busan Jin. I’ll find myself for adventurous search of exotic Korean snack called Beondegi. It’s a stewed and seasoned silkworm pupae served by street vendors.  First time I ate this tiny creature in 2004 during football match in SuYeong, Busan.

Beondegi or Silkworm
Texture of SilkWorm
The smell of Beondegi kinda dirt-like but if you take it from a canned version it has a hot dog kind of aroma. Looks crunchy but it’s not…and the taste was quite memorable. The exterior texture is like a thin shrimp shell that you can easily chew. Inside was a little mushy with an extra fine grainy texture with taste like a mild protein taste of peanuts.
