Mother's Day Dinner @ Malay Village

Last Sunday I made a reservation to celebrate mother’s day at Malay Village in Johor Bahru. It’s a village of international cuisines. It serves Chinese, Malay Nyonya, Thai and Western cuisines at moderate price. This restaurant set up is magnificent. You can choose either outdoor dining with small open sheds or air condition for indoor dining. The deco here is done in the quaint of malay style. Wall in wood and the surrounding area full of exotic plants & flora. Night time you will have a chance to watch traditional angklung performance.

Angklung is a musical instrument made out bamboo tubes that are carved so that they have a resonant pitch when struck. This musical originated from Indonesia and it has been used and played by the Sundanese since the ancient.

Nice Setting
They have special menu for Mother’s day, so we opted to that dinner set. The mother’s day dinner comprises 7 courses.

Siakap 3 Rasa

It’s a dish called 3 rasa or flavours, probably due to it 3’S flavours, Sweet, Sour and Spicy. Medium size fish with thick gravy and a lot of vege and chilli garnish.

Udang Goreng Tepung
Looks like jemput-jemput or fritters with prawn flesh inside. Best eaten dip with chilli sauce.

Sweet Sour Cuttlefish
Beside fish, cuttlefish also tasted good in sweet sour sauce.

Chicken in Black Pepper
Strong tasted of the black pepper sauce, overcomes all the other flavours.

Lemon Chicken
Crispy chicken with a tasted of lemon. I like it.

Mix Tomyam
The Tomyam, just normal tasted but probably too sour for my liking.

Omelets
Overall, best place for family gathering. Nice and affordable food with wonderful ambience.
